The lovely "Shannon" beanie hat was designed to reflect the landscape of the area where designer Máirín Ni Dhonncha grew up - the Burren. The cable-knit design is reminiscent of the clints and grikes that make up the rugged limestone surface of this unique and unusual natural landmark.
The ribbing on this hat makes it nice and stretchy and allows for a comfortable fit.
This beanie hat pattern is perfect for beginner/intermediate knitters.
The hat pictured is knitted in our Vale yarn, in the shade Blueberry.

Máirín Ní Dhonncha Aran Islands, Ireland
Máirín Ní Dhonncha is a knitter from the Aran Islands, a cluster of three beautifully rugged islands off the west coast of Ireland. Máirín’s designs combine traditional elements of Aran knitting (e.g. cables, lattice work) with more modern techniques, such as seamless knitting.
Máirín first learnt to knit when she was about six years old, and at school she moved on to Aran knitting pretty quickly! She knitted her first Aran jumper while in school and due to the longevity of Irish wool, she's pretty sure it's still around today! The tradition of Aran knitting has been alive on the islands for hundreds of years. Máirín continued to knit over the years as a hobby and also started knitting some items for her cousin to sell on Inis Mor, the largest of the Aran Islands, before designing knitwear patterns professionally.
