Description

Amigurumi celebrates crochet’s full potential to combine cuteness and character. Any object, from a piece of fruit to a traffic cone, can be given the amigurumi treatment, and once you’ve made your first pieces, you’ll discover that the possible variations are endless. In fact, before you know it, you’ll have run out of friends to give your creations to!
This book will introduce you to the amigurumi world on a miniature scale. You will find 100 micro amigurumi patterns which can be made as small as your thumbnail and can become charms, jewellery, keyrings, or perhaps doll's house decorations.
In the following ten chapters, you will discover some well-loved themes, as well as a few more unusual projects. Make your own mushroom sidekick, a tiny café, or even a miniature dragon. I loved designing each of these pieces and the imaginary worlds they inhabit, and I encourage you to do what I did while writing this book - look around, what can you see that could be transformed by amigurumi?
This book is for anyone who has a grasp of basic crochet stitches and has perhaps already explored a little amigurumi. Although the emphasis is on micro-crochet, all of the designs work with hooks and yarns of any size. If you have not crocheted such small pieces before, you can always start by working with your usual thread or yarn, and gradually scale down as you become more comfortable with the patterns. You will learn the skills needed for micro-crochet, such as how to hold your thread and hook, crocheting in rounds and embroidering faces, as well as different ways of stuffing your pieces to bring them to life.
My hope is that by the end of this book, you will have acquired the skills and confidence to make your own pieces so that your cast of amigurumi characters will be springing up around you. Or, rather, out of the end of your crochet hook!
