Description

About the author

Diarmuid O Drisceoil is a writer, historian, storyteller and occasional broadcaster.

Although living in Cork, he has a family connection to Cape Clear as his father was born there and he is a constant visitor to the island.

Diarmuid has published a number of books on aspects of Cork history. Solo projects include Douglas Golf Club: Centenary History (2009), Blackrock: Portrait of a Cork Suburb in 1916 (2016), The Ring of Blackrock: A Walking Guide & History (2018, 2019 & 2021). He has collaborated with his brother Donal on a number of other books on Cork history – The Murphy’s Story: The History of Lady’s Well Brewery, Cork (1997 & 2006), Serving a City: The Story of Cork’s English Market (2005 & 2011), Fifty Years Have Flown: The History of Cork Airport (2011), Beamish & Crawford: The History of an Irish Brewery (2015) and From Fields beneath the Sea: The Story of Kinsale Natural Gas (2023).
