In the past fifty years or so, the landscape of Cork has changed significantly, in some cases beyond recognition. Throughout the past four decades, the author has taken thousands of photos of Cork and its people while also documenting its ongoing physical development, both city and county.
For some readers, quite a few of these pictures will have a special resonance, such as those of the old Páirc Uí Chaoimh as it was back in 1983 and an almost unrecognisable Turners Cross soccer ground. People feature prominently also, for instance in the images of the celebrations in 1985 that marked Cork’s 800th birthday as a chartered city. The book has been an unprecedented success, selling out within a few week of it’s publication. A third print run has now been published.
