Muslin, fine-woven from cotton and bleached or unbleached, is a truly utilitarian textile with a wealth of historical roots. In very hot climates, muslin can be used as an apparel material because of its light, breathable nature. Also used as a mock-up fabric for the seamstress or amateur fashion designer. It also has uses in theatre and studio photography, cooking and medicine. Muslin is also applied to the back of curtains or drapes to help give them form and preserve privacy.
