Philip Pullman is one of the most celebrated and influential children's authors of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, best known for his epic His Dark Materials trilogy — Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass. Set across parallel worlds of daemons, armoured bears, dark matter and ancient conspiracies, the trilogy is widely regarded as one of the greatest works of children's literature ever written. Pullman has since returned to his world with the companion Book of Dust trilogy, and his books have been adapted for stage, film and the acclaimed BBC television series.
